& Campaigns
My favorite writing assignments: When I get to help businesses and organizations tell their stories through branding. Crafting clear messages that thread across brochures, websites, press releases, product guides, flyers, and the like, imparts a memorable impression on your customers and lets them know what to expect.

Technical
Docs
I started my professional career writing technical documentation. I find it an exhilarating challenge to take a complex (or let's be honest, sometimes uninteresting) subject and make it clear, accessible, and hopefully interesting. Here is a technical article I wrote for a reseller for Reed Instruments. While employed at LP, I created this software guide. Here are is an example of a software sell sheet and software release notes.  Here is whitepaper that I did for an education software company.

Journalism
Having a business marketing background, coupled with my writing skills, gives me a unique perspective to help businesses promote themselves in print or online profiles and advertorials.

Since I love trying new foods, I enjoyed writing this piece for The Boundary House in Calabash, NC. Fashion is a passion too, and I loved meeting the employees at Island Breeze

Curriculum

Working with engineers at LP, I created online and in-person training curriculum and managed the continuing education program that offered learning credits to American Institute of Architects members. I spent two years on a freelance project for Aztec Software writing Language Arts test prep questions for ACT, Adult Basic Education, and High School Equivalency.

Copyediting

While finishing up my master's degree, I worked as a copy chief for Palaver, an online interdisciplinary journal housed in the Graduate Liberal Studies program at UNCW. I was grateful to work with submissions that "defy the confines of a single discipline and explore multiple disciplinary influences." I wish I'd wrote that, but I didn't.

Articles

I love hearing peoples' stories and sharing them. That's why I enjoy writing for local and regional lifestyle magazines. I have over 150 articles published, but here are some stand outs. As a huge animal lover I couldn't wait to write Click for South Brunswick Magazine. When Our State magazine asked me to visit some breweries and write about them, I couldn't' turn the assignment down! Art is another passion of mine, and Brushing Beethoven gave me the chance to meet Mio! You'll love her too!

Brigitte Bardot Meets Jackie O, Southern Style
This was an interview-style piece I did for a local magazine a few years ago. These two friends and entrepreneurs kept me laughing throughout the entire interview. One of my faves!

Recipe for Change
This article is near and dear to my heart for 2 reasons: first, I wrote it about my precious, late father-in-law. Second, it was the first magazine article I ever had published.
